The club has a friendly atmosphere and we now have a nice mix of beginners and more experienced observers so please don’t worry if you don’t know one end of a telescope from the other. Even those of us who have been observing for years still have fond memories of those early days.
If you are interested in astronomy or just like gazing at the stars, then you are welcome to join us at any time. Membership of Ancrum Astronomy Club is open to absolutely anyone.
We meet for our main club meetings on the first Tuesday of every month in the Ancrum village hall from the first Tuesday of September through to the following April. Additionally, we run Technical sessions on the third Tuesday's.
Meetings run from 7.30 to 9.00pm (ish!). We normally have some form of presentation, followed by a look at what is visible for the coming month and of course, if it’s clear, we will always go outside for a viewing session. Presentations can cover anything from articles that have been in the news, general astronomical topics or a closer look at telescopes and astronomical equipment.
Full Season membership:
Adult (age 16 or over) - £18
Family - £24 (1 adult plus any number of children)
Visitor's fee for attending occasional meetings
